OUR DNA:

Core Values:

  • Bible-based: We affirm the absolute authority of the Scriptures as the inspired and infallible Word of God. As such, it is our sole authority; it alone may bind the conscience.
  • God-focused: We affirm that our lives (personal and corporate) are for God and His glory (1Cor. 6:20). That means we are more concerned with pleasing God, than with pleasing men.
  • Gospel-driven: God is most glorified in the Gospel. ‘The Gospel’ is the good news of salvation from sins through the perfect life, substitutionary death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We affirm the centrality of the Gospel to both our salvation and to living out the Christian life; it motivates and informs every facet of life.

Purpose:

The purpose of Greencastle Bible Church is to glorify God 1.) by exalting Him in both public and private worship, 2.) by serving and encouraging one other unto love and good works, and 3.) by making disciples of all peoples.

Vision:

We believe the Gospel of Christ is at the root of all real change in our lives (justification, sanctification, and glorification) and that it is the fuel for our worship of God, fellowship with each other, and disciple-making efforts in the world. Consequently, we believe that we will only be the congregation God wants us to be as we are continually growing in the Gospel—in our understanding of it, passion for it, and by the living out of its demands.

Ministry Priorities:

  • Expository Preaching: Our pastor’s goal is to unpack the Word of God in a faithful and relevant manner. He seeks to make the main point the passage under consideration the main point of his sermon.

  • Congregational Singing: First, worship is active, not passive. It is a verb. That means we are participants. Second, congregational singing serves both to instruct and to edify (Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16). As a result, we make every effort to practice worship in a way that not only places the focus squarely on the Lord but also in a way that encourages everyone to participate, young or old, those with musical training and those without.

  • Discipleship: Evangelism is only the first part of making disciples. Our burden is to see God’s people grow in grace, equipped for the work of the ministry (2 Pet. 3:18; Eph. 4:12). We also want to see them grow in holiness which is rooted in the Word of God and motivated by the Gospel, rather than mere conformity to the opinions and preferences of men.
