A children's ministry held at Wagnall's Memorial in Lithopolis, Ohio, was the impetus for the establishment of the Greencastle Bible Church. Several children were converted at these Bible studies and reported this good news to their parents. These families saw a need for a Bible-teaching and preaching church in Bloom Township. In September of 1965 a small group of believers founded Greencastle Bible Church and began meeting at the Township Building of Bloom Township. The Reverend Gordon Ferrell was called as the first pastor.

In 1966, ground was broken for the first building located on Amanda-Northern Road. During the early years of the church, Pastor Ferrell saw the Lord call many of the youth into full-time Christian ministry.

Upon Pastor Ferrell's retirement in 1971, the congregation called the Reverend Robert Mazzie. During Pastor Mazzie's pastorate, the church experienced solid and substantial growth. In 1977, the congregation started the Greencastle Christian School. The current auditorium was completed during Pastor Mazzie's tenure.

Charles J. Flesher became Greencastle's third pastor in June of 1978. A new educational wing and a multipurpose building were added during Pastor Flesher's ministry. Currently, the fellowship supports nine foreign missionaries and five home missions. In 1998, the congregation elected the Reverend Paul Martin as Associate Pastor. In December of 2010, Pastor Martin became Associate Emeritus.

Pastor Flesher transitioned to his new position as Pastor Emeritus June 30, 2016, and Pastor Troy L. Lohmeyer became our Senior Pastor July 18, 2016.

Greencastle is affiliated with the Ohio Bible Fellowship, a fellowship of churches which has a large and thriving camping ministry 50 miles north of Columbus. Greencastle Bible Church is noted for its efforts to build strong families, maintain sound standards of Christian conduct, and emphasize excellent music. The theme song of Greencastle is "To God Be the Glory." It is the desire of this fellowship to give God all the glory for the wonderful things He has done in this local church.
