Our Message for You
You are loved! 1 John 4:10 reads, "In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us . . . .” You may not believe that you are lovable, but God loves you anyway!
You are very important! Genesis 1:27-28 reads, "So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them . . . fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over . . . every living thing . . . .” You were created by God in God’s image, which means that you have a soul and a body which will live somewhere forever. It also means that you can have a relationship with God.
God is great! Psalm 90:2 reads, "Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.” Exodus 15:11 reads, "Who is like You, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?” Deuteronomy 32:4 reads, "He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, a God of truth and without injustice; righteous and upright is He.”
So what’s the problem? I’m glad you asked!
Death remains the greatest enemy humanity faces: everyone dies. Do you know where your eternal soul and body will spend eternity? You are loved, and you are important; but God is too great and holy to allow you into heaven until you’ve recognized your condition and accepted His offer. Did you know that? Not everyone will someday enter heaven’s doors. But the Bible teaches that human beings can find a way to defeat death through the work of God’s own Son, Jesus Christ!
Recognize Your Problem: Sin separates you from God. We all “miss the mark” when it comes to measuring up to God’s perfect, holy standard of righteousness. If you have ever lied, cheated, stolen, hated, been jealous, taken God’s name in vain, or failed to love God with all your being, you are guilty of committing sin. Sin may be defined as any failure to measure up to God’s moral standard of perfection in attitude or deed. The Lord Jesus tells us the fate of those who sin against God and do not turn to Him for salvation:
Revelation 21:8 "But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
Hell is real, and all who reject Christ are justly sentenced to its eternal judgment. God cannot look at sin or allow it into His presence. In order to escape this judgment and be allowed in God’s presence, we need someone who can measure up to God’s holy standard and make the payment for our sins. The Lord Jesus Christ stands as the only One qualified to do this.
Romans 3:10-11 "As it is written: ‘There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God.’”
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death . . .”
Revelation 20:14-15 "Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.”
Understand the Solution: Jesus Christ died on the cross of Calvary in your place, completely paying the penalty for your sins, and rose again from the dead. The bad news is that all human beings have sinned against God and deserve eternal judgment; the good news is that God loves mankind so much He provided the free gift of a way of escape! The Bible calls this message of salvation “the gospel,” the good news that Jesus Christ died as a substitute for sinners and rose again from the dead.
1 Peter 3:18 "For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.”
2 Corinthians 5:21 "For He (God the Father) made Him (Jesus Christ) who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 "For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”
Accept the Salvation God Offers: By faith alone in Jesus Christ, accept God’s gift of eternal
Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Admit to God that you have sinned against Him and that you are worthy of death; then, change your mind about Christ Jesus--accept Him as the Son of God Who died in your place. God offers salvation as a free gift! You cannot do anything to gain a good standing before God; you must simply receive/accept this gift by faith.
John 3:36 "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."
So, how can you know for certain that when you die you will enter into God’s presence in heaven? You find this certainty when you trust in Christ Jesus for your eternal salvation. Reflect on the following verses and how the Apostle Paul viewed death as a Christian:
Ephesians 2:4-7 "But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 "But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.”
